Challenge: The main character must be an unreliable narrator. The same narrator must have at least one vice.
This story was delayed because getting the challenge took a while. I’ll work on catching up on the lost day during the weekend since right now there’s life happening quite a lot.

“Ingolf, why’d you really do it?”
I cleared my throat and told, “That vest was originally mine, but he stole it from me under the guise of a debt that I had! He’s been stringing me along for years by giving me hope that I’d be able to get it back! I simply took back what was mine!”
The others looked at each other. I was certain that they would believe me — after all, they did know of my gambling problem and the debts.
