Currently on my art: Post-FFM 2023, the upcoming autumn

Hi everyone!

It’s been half a quarter once again, so it’s time for a Currently on my art post. This’ll be a short one again.

So, FFM 2023 happened despite it first looking like nothing official is going to happen. Myself and many others were discussing organizing our own FFM only for the hydra to suddenly come out of the woodwork and not only organize the FFM this year but also migrate to WordPress. I had a good time, as expected. There isn’t much to say about FFM aside from that; outside of challenges, I focused primarily on a single character from my previous flashfics, Bereth. Why? I don’t know. My post-workday brains latched onto the situation he had been left to and ran with it. Was this my worst FFM so far? It might have been; it was my first FFM with a huge workload from a summer job, so I feel that the quality of my work has been lower throughout the summer. Number-wise, though? It went surprisingly well. See for yourselves (and note that week 5 includes 8 days, as the 31st was the sole day of the 6th “week” of this July).

Anyways, now that news from FFM are dealt with, what else is there to say? Hardly anything, really. My summer job ends at the end of the month. My work situation from then on is currently unknown, but nevertheless I’ll be having a lot more time for my master’s thesis and everything else, so I think my writing will pick up again and I’ll have time and energy to consider what I want to do with the projects that are on unplanned hiatuses.

That’s all for now. Let’s see how things are going with my projects, as per my project widget:

  • The Fate’s Way: Chapter 80 is in editing. I still need to redraw the regular Alyssa and also Alyssa’s friends and family and the other important people, like Matti, someday. I need to revise chapters.
  • Off-DA projects: Nothing notable here. My master’s thesis progresses slowly; I’m around 25% done with gathering data. That project should pick up in speed, come the end of August.
  • Greenfield: Editing is currently stuck at the stop position. I need to reflect on whether or not I want to continue this or if I’ve just been stuck in a sunk cost fallacy for a while. I’m currently working on editing chapter 5. Read more about the project here.
  • Lyokostar: The second part of story 7 is still waiting for betareading (or rather alphareading, which I still haven’t gotten around to doing; hopefully I’ll get that done soon enough). This story is in need of massive reworking, so it’s going to take a long time to finish. References need to be done.
  • A Wandering Aura: I haven’t done anything for this in ages. I probably should put this on hiatus… I should think on the likelihood of continuing this too.
  • Navigator’s Glove: What is currently known as the epilogue is being fleshed out drastically before splitting it into multiple chapters and then editing them. Once editing is done, I’ll be reworking to add a considerably big plot bunny into the fic. I’ve written 21135 words during the quarter.
  • GamingHabiticaPokémon GOPokémon Masters EX and Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training keep on going, although Pokémon Go only rarely nowadays. I’ve also played the remaster of Persona 5 Royal for my master’s thesis for quite a few hours.
  • Other stuff: FFM 2023 came and went. I’ll start working on the FFM 2023 collection at some point. I have been reading fanfics mostly. I still haven’t gotten started with IDW’s Transformers comics and at this point I might just postpone them to tackle some other stuff I want to read since the ones that I’m missing are no longer available digitally as far as I can see.
  • Personal life: Not much, mainly just work and master’s thesis stuff. Not really anything else.

That’s all for this post. Thanks for reading and take care!
