Challenge: No human or part-human characters. The story must include one “best or pet type character” that’s separate from any other species in the story. They cannot speak.
Zogeri hissed at the bird that settled on her head. The damn thing was completely unfazed by the fact that a Hydra head was infuriated with it. “Stupid jackdaw.”
Mronish gasped in horror. “Shut your mouth, idiot! That’s Yatagarasu!”
Zogeri would have peered at the stupid bird if she could have. “Who was that again?”
Gegohz sighed, shaking his own head. “The Japanese god of guidance.” He turned to the bird being perched on Zogeri and said something in a language Zogeri herself did not understand. Yatagarasu did not respond.
“Uh, is it normal for them not to reply beyond just looking at you?” Truvino wondered.
“Yes. They only speak when they have something of import to say.” Gegohz laid down. “Zogeri, try not to piss them off. They will direct their ire only on the head that causes it.”
Zogeri rolled her eyes. “Yeah, yeah, whatever…” Yatagarasu pecked at her head. “Ow, hey!”
Gegohz snorted. “What’d I say…?”
