FFM 2024 25: Break a Rule

Challenge: Go to the latest version of the David Bowie Song Randomiser and pick one line of lyrics of a generated song to be the opening sentence and use neopronouns instead of he/she/they. As an optional hard mode, write the story without pronouns at all. Optionally, if you come across formatting issues in the generator, report them.

My opening sentence is from Silly Boy Blue. I decided to write just one section with the hard mode because that felt insanely difficult and I was low on resources called Time, Energy and Lack of Headache. I figured I might as well make write a 369er to keep things simple since my initial formatting became a three-parter and we haven’t had a 369er challenge yet.

One boy breaks a rule. Ze knows zirs time is nigh; the elders are talking about zir. If ze wishes to escape, now is the time. Zirs role in this sect is becoming too heavy, too laden with expectations ze cannot ever fulfill.

Ze must escape, and because of that, ze must break away the only way the elders will note: breaking a rule — the most sacred of them.

~~~
One boy breaks a rule. There is only one way to escape the sect. The elders will not hear the complaints, the cries for freedom, otherwise. Breaking a rule is the only way anyone has an out, as the rebels have taught whoever wishes to listen to dissenting words.
No matter what the elders do, there will always be rebels. And one boy after another the rebellion grows stronger.
~~~

One boy breaks a rule. Not because ae wants to escape the sect but because aers mission in life is to uproot the rebels once and for all. By breaking the rules, by becoming a reject, ae can infiltrate the rebellion and take it apart from within.

One day, ae will have their victory over those who scorn the sect that lifted them from orphanhood into servants of Gods.
